LOU and MARIE VISCO "THE RIVER'S EDGE GARDEN RAILROAD"

OPEN: June 18, 10:00-5:00 pm

The layout consists of four main lines with approximately 250 ft of track. The center of the railroad has a number of buildings including a lighthouse and a railroad station, surrounded by tunnels. There is also a gondola. The layout is located next to a canal that leads out to the St. Martin River.

 

From route 113 South, turn onto Route 589 (Race Track Road) to Ocean Pines.  From Route 589 TURN LEFT onto Ocean Parkway at the NORTH GATE of Ocean Pines (there is a traffic light at the intersection).   Proceed over a small wooden bridge and continue on Ocean Parkway for 2.6 miles passing WHITE HORSE PARK on your left.  Continue to CUSTOMS WAY (sign will be on your right) and TURN LEFT into TEAL BAY.   Customs Way is a short street.  TURN LEFT onto Teal Circle, passing two streets on your right -- Moonshell and Lookout Point.  Go around the bend and look for tan house on your left #44.  Parking is limited, be careful on the narrow road.

 

PAUL and ANN BOTTINO- BEACHWOOD RAILROAD

OPEN: June 18. 10-00-5:00 pm

Started in June 2004, this railroad features two main lines in the woods using Aristocraft Diesels and a Mikado steam loco pulling UP, RG, BNSF and Santa Fe freight and coal trains. Part of the layout is elevated, and the whole layout is now approximately 600 ft.

From Southbound Rt. 113 at Dagsboro, take Rt.26 East, and just out of Dagsboro TURN RIGHT on Rt.20 (Armory Road) across from a cemetery. Continue on Rt.20, straight thru a 4 way stop light, and continue straight thru a signalized intersection at Rt.17. Proceed 1/4 mile past Rt.17 and TURN LEFT into Wilgus Cemetery Rd. (If you get to Roxana Fire Co., you went too far). ½ mile on Wilgus Cemetery Rd (and 6 new homes) TURN LEFT into Beachwood Development at the sign, then BEAR RIGHT and follow road 100 yards

From Coastal Highway: TURN RIGHT on Rt 26 in Bethany Beach, proceed to Rt 17. TURN LEFT on Rt 17, proceed to signalized intersection at Rt 20. TURN LEFT and proceed 1/4 mile to Wilgus Cemetery Rd, and follow above directions.

Year started: 2005 Narrow gauge railroad located in western Colorado circa 1940. The railroad is very loosely based on and somewhat inspired by Durango Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad. It occupies an area approximately 90' by 30' and contains a waterfall, river, pond, several bridges and a long tunnel. Construction is still ongoing.

From Seaford: From U.S. 13 take DE 20 to Reliance (at Md state line) turn right on MD 577. Go straight until dead end into E. Central Ave in Federalsburg. TURN LEFT and go through traffic light. After light go half way up hill and bear left onto S. Park Lane (there is no street sign). 102 is first house on left.
From Easton: From U.S. 50 take MD 331 East to Preston. At Preston Ford take MD 318 to Federalsburg. At traffic light take MD 315 into Federalsburg. BEAR RIGHT on to N. Main St. At traffic light TURN RIGHT, Half way up hill bear left onto S. Park Lane (There is no street sign). 102 is the first house on the left.

Started in 2008, the Bear (Bearly Earnin and Able Railway) started with a small loop. It has since expanded, and is expanding again. The best way to describe it is a garden with a train running thru it. The Bear currently features over 70' of track through our flower garden, with 2 bridges. Occupying an area is approximately 30' x 40', with our garden being larger. Locomotives are first and second generation diesels, with a 0-4-0 switcher and track speeder making appearances. The Bear also has a wreck (MOW) train with a crane.

 

From Easton: From US 50 take MD 331 East to Preston. After passing through Preston, take Md 318 to Federalsburg. Approximately 3 miles past Preston Ford, look for American Corner Rd on your left.  A Trucking company (Xpert Xpress) is on the corner of Md 318 and American Corner Rd. Turn Left on American Corner Rd and proceed 1 mile. The house is on the right.

 

From Seaford: From US 13 take DE 20 to Reliance (at MD state line) turn Right on Md 577 (Reliance RD).  At the first traffic light turn LEFT onto MD-313/MD-318/Federalsburg Bypass. Pass through 1 roundabout. At the next traffic light turn left onto MD 318 (Preston Road). Go approximately 4 miles and look for American Corner Rd on your left Proceed as above.

 

From Jay and Sandy Ruark: At the bottom of the hill turn Left on Main Street. Pass through town. Go straight thru the traffic light onto MD 318 (Preston Road). Go approximately 4 miles and look for American Corner Rd on your left.  Proceed as above.

OPEN:  June 18, 10 to 5 pm

 

One of the newest of the SLGRC open houses, this layout was opened to traffic in November of 2009. There are two loops for modern freight and passenger service. A local trolley takes you from the train station to the "Chicken Farm" restaurant. A spur will take freight from the mainline to the waiting barge where a tug will ferry it across Maples Pond. At night, all trains return through the tunnel to the basement storage.

 

From Route 1 southbound, turn right just past Maples Pont at Route 5. Turn right at the first street, Rockswitch, and proceed to the first house on the right side of the road.

 

From Route 1 Northbound, turn left at Bromleys onto Rt 5. Turn right at the first street (Rockswitch) and proceed to the first house on the Right side of the road.

 

CARL AND FLORENCE HOFFMAN "DELAWARE CENTRAL"

The Delaware Central Railroad represents a short line that connects with Norfolk Southern at Viola Junction and runs 5 miles to a car float at Barkers Landing. The railroad covers an area about 50' x 150' with 700' of track, 6 bridges and 4 ponds. The locos are battery powered and radio controlled.
 
From the North-Take DE 1 south to first right exit past Dover Air Force Base. Trapshooters Rd. to Barkers Landing Rd. to Magnolia. Straight through traffic light on Walnut St. that becomes Irish Hill Rd. Left on Lexington Mill Rd. Left on Cedarfield Rd. Take third driveway on left. Follow blue loco signs.

From the South-On DE 1 south of Dover Air Force Base, turn left on Barretts Chapel Rd. at Barretts Chapel Cemetary. Proceed 3 miles to McGinnis Pond Rd, turn right onto McGinnis Pond Rd. and go 1/4 mile to Lexington Mill Rd., turn right, continue 0.3 mile onto Cedarfield Rd., take third driveway on left. Follow blue loco signs

MIKE and CLAUDIA LEISTER-"Delaware Division of the Western Maryland"

The newest of the club layouts began in 2010. It now consists of three main lines in the woods totaling over 320 feet including a trestle bridge, waterfall, mountain tunnel, small village, and plenty of places to sit end enjoy. All motive power is Western Maryland Railway from the 1940s to the 1970s. Multiple-Unit operations. Railroad tools on display as well.

 

From Dover on DE 1 / US 113 travel south 7.3 miles after exit 93.

Turn right on Barrett's Chapel Road proceed 2.9 miles.

Turn Right on McGinnis Pond Road proceed .6 miles. The house is on the right, gray with maroon shutters. It sits among the trees; the number is on the mailbox.

 

From Frederica US 113/ DE 1 travel north one mile you will see a large brick church on your right Turn left onto Barrett's Chapel Road -follow as above

 

From Felton on US 13 travel north approximately 2 miles Turn right on Irish Hill Road proceed 2.4 miles. Turn right onto McGinnis Pond Road. Go .7 mile. Our house is on the left.

 

From Dover on US 13 travel south

Turn left on Irish Hill Road- proceed as above
